"A whole
lotta killin'!"
Check out whose 11th on BestBuy's Hottest New Releases? That's right; we topped the stasche of
Magnum P.I. and the leather jacket and mullet of Michael Knight.
Here's a cropped pic of the site:
April 4th, 2006
Okay I was sent this yesterday on the 3rd. It seems that “JUDGES was ranked #11 on
new releases at www.bestbuy.com . You can see that Buddy Colt topped Magnum and Michael
Knight. That has to be worth a free steak dinner at Ponderosa…come on!
I’ve been taking meetings last night and all day today on the forthcoming projects. I have a
shoot with the historic project I’ve been working on tomorrow. We are shooting a historian
and a man with background on the project. That has been fun.
Then I’m traveling to N.C. from Thursday to Sunday to meet with the mayor of a small
town in N.C. where we may be doing a doc film on the once famous “Ghost Town in the Skyâ
€. We will be meeting also with some of the famous actors that use to work there such as â
€œCowboyâ€ the toothless man from “Deliveranceâ€ who was doing Brokeback Mountain
acting before it was cool. Actually Burt Renolds was also a gunfighter at the park and we will see
if we can get him involved as well.
I can tell you that on another front, our “WILD MICHIGAN script is almost all together
with the banks and the six million dollar man Lee Majors is looking at the script. I thought that
was a cool bit of news. I’m looking forward to working with more stars from my youth such
as David Carradine, Dan Haggerty, Michael Parks, Terence Knox and Dennis Haskins. It is so
cool. I really wanted to work with John Candy, Don Knotts, Michael Landon and even Chuck
Heston was on that personal list but it wasn’t meant to be. There are cool radio clips going
up on the www.judgesthemovie.com website. It feels funny because “JUDGES is playing
three times tonight in a Virginia Beach theater and they are doing signings after that. I’m
here on business in Michigan and will miss the audience premiere of “JUDGES. Well this
makes two new movies in two months and next month is “MIRACLE at SAGE CREEK.
I have to know get a few questions around for tomorrows interviews and lastly I think in another
8 days the “Supermodel Showdown website launches in full.
So buy those movies and I’m still waiting to see any Buddy Colt T-Shirts on people.

April 12th, 2006

May 30th, 2006 is the release of “MIRACLE at
SAGE CREEK so pre-order it now at www.
amazon.com or wherever you want to. This was a
great movie experience and you will also see 20
minutes of the hour plus behind the scenes stuff
that Gregg McNeil and Kovac shot, Tony Hornus
directed, Steve Young edited and yours truly
produced. Good interviews and such.
Below you can see our “JUDGES movie
poster from the April 4th theatrical showings in
Virginia. They did a signing and everything after
and that was very successful. I was driving to N.C.
on some biz with Dean Teaster (West) that I’ll
get to in a minute but a friend of his from Florida
called because they had bought “AN
ORDINARY KILLER and really enjoyed it.
They also brought up the fact that there was a
movie called “JUDGES on the previews that
looked great and that they wanted to buy that as
well. They did not make the Lynn Kendall, Buddy
Colt connection. Well, Dean puts them on the
phone with Buddy Colt and they were surprised I
do think. That is so funny when people get a tickle
out of talking to me when anyone who really
knows me knows that it is not that exciting.
That is not to say that I don’t think I have interesting things to say but…it is that whole â
€œmovie starâ€ thing and the real me are actually opposite one another. “JUDGESâ€ hits
all Hollywood Video and Movie Gallery stores on May 2nd.

“The 8th PLAGUE rough cut is going over to Anthem Pictures next week and we will see if
a deal will be struck. I also have a 3 picture slate coming together with a friend of mine Bo. I
might play roles in all three but co-star in one action film that is also a creature feature. More on
that soon.
I should have word on “WILD MICHIGAN this week. I’m reading a few other scripts
and also writing along on “ACE my WW1 script. I wrote a scene yesterday and my
computer froze and I lost it so I have to re-write that one scene. My partner in CDI lost a whole
script almost years ago. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!
My trip down South to Maggie Valley, N.C. was awesome. Mountains, bluegrass music with
Raymond Fairchild, trip to GHOST TOWN in the SKY! Dean is shooting a doc with my help BUT
a western may be in the works. Westerns, Horror and thrillers seem to be my mainstay as of late. I
need a good comedy. Maybe some of my early films were comedies. Between my inexperienced
acting and bad scripts I think comedy is a good term to use.
Speaking of early films…FROM VENUS…………..this was a comedy but we find it fun to
watch. Drink a beer every 15 minutes and it just gets better and better. Take a shot when you get
thrown between the comic and real? World. Brain Damage Films is releasing FROM VENUS is a 6
DVD set coming up. Soon you can get that at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and other retail stores.
BEWARE THE AVATRIX! PEACHY!
So back to N.C. Dean and I met many great people who had acted at GHOST TOWN with people
like Burt Reynolds. We also got to meet the one and only Herbert “Cowboy Coward, best
known as the toothless guy from “Deliverance. What a nice man with great stories that will
be in the documentary film. I can tell you while 100% mountain he IS an actor. He was voted in
2005 as one of the best screen villains in the history of film. (YES there are worse things than
getting FORCE choked by Darth Vader) I will send Pepper photos later of our trip. So Raymond
and Shirley, Jimmy and his wife, Apache Kid, Barbara and Harry, Eddie, Jo and her hubby,
Alaska and the whole clan of N.C. kinfolk... Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We
WILL be back!
That is all for now. I worked outside all yesterday and got the yard in shape at Fort Perry and
today we have rain. That is good for writing.
Until next time!
DJ
April 20, 2006 : Back to the basic!
I'm at Fort Perry with the sun streaming in on my face. It is slightly chilly but I have a hot cup
of Joe to start the morning engines. I did my first mowing of the lawn yesterday and even got
the gas powered edger working.
I've been writing on the WW1 script "Ace" and adjusting budget items on "Wild Michigan"
which looks almost ready to move to New Mexico now. We have started to talk with distributors
and I would like to see it go with Screen Media/Universal like "Miracle at Sage Creek" and it
just might.
"An Ordinary Killer" continues selling strong and "Judges" has the May 2nd rental release
coming up. We are waiting to hear on a TV sale. Rizzo productions has a cool site on My Space
for "Judges" and I think many movies are starting to use online networking in their marketing
plan.
This past weekend I read 3 scripts that I might play parts in. Overall I'm juggling about 6
projects and so I will have to see how all the chips fall. "Wild Michigan" and "The Hard Ride"
seem like the solid projects and I'm looking for other good projects to do around those.
Here is:
JUDGES on MYSPACE.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=58687788
I did a cameo on Nathaniel Nose's comedy mockumentary entitled "Talent." It is in the vein of
"Spinal Tap" or "Best in Show" and so I'll go to a premiere on Friday. That should be fun.
The trailers for "Supermodel Showdown" should be up this week and Joe is shooting for a June
10th DVD release in Boston. Tickets can be bought at
www.bigcatentertainmentgroup.com I will try to attend. I might try to meet my buddy Ben
Danielson there if I can.
Other then that you have the 1st of our "SMS" girls up on leading ladies and I will eventually
have all of them featured. They are all great girls and I've enjoyed watching their growth in their
careers. We all shared something magical in the jungle for sure.
Pepper is doing some great revamping to the website I see. The premieres are all gathered
together. I'm excited that all these films are moving down the line and now "GPS" and "The 8th
Plague" will be rolling out. We also have a family distributor in talks with us over "Figure in the
Forest," "Heaven's Neighbors," and "The Patchwork Girl of OZ." Our OZ project may also get
a TV release with a family channel but we will see what happens here soon.
We may have some really big news but not for a while. That was just a teaser for all of you out
there. Thank you again for all the support as we attempt to entertain you.

April 24th, 2006
Early morning and the warm coffee is flowing. I had a good weekend. I went to the premiere of
the mockumentary "Talent" that I did a cameo in as a casting director. It was a good time and
the movie was pretty good. Nathaniel Nose who has done editing for me directed it. I then went
with Curt Hall and met with this director Manny from Canada. It was his 1st feature film, a
horror film and something he promised a dying friend he would finish. As I told him he is now
in the club. He doesn't just talk about making a movie he has done it. It was a flawed project
that made even films like "In the Woods" really shine but still it was a labor of love and now he
can grow from there.
Sunday I substituted in playing 2 indoor soccer games for my brother. We won and yours truly
had a good game with a couple of goals and assists. Soccer is a great sport for staying in shape.
This should be a busy crazy week with many deals in the works. The late summer/fall will be
taken up with westerns. I will be in New Mexico for a good spell it looks like. "Miracle at Sage
Creek" just had a good showing at the AZ Film Festival I think. Wes Studi and Tim Abel went
with Thadd and the audiences loved it. That comes out on DVD May 30th, 2006. It looks like
we are getting ready to roll to the next phase on "Wild Michigan". This will shoot back to back
it looks like with "Buttermilk Skies" and "The Hard Ride" so it will be crazy fun.
You can now see the trailer for "Supermodel Showdown" at www.supermodelshowdown.com so
check out the action in the jungle! Things are rolling right along with the ON LOCATION DVD
and a few networks are getting packages this week!
I'm trying to get title and dates for the multi-pack that "From Venus" will be included in. The
"In the Woods: Special Edition" has a wonderfully funny commentary track as Lynn Drzick,
Stuart MacDonald and I look back at one of our 1st endeavors. I will keep feeding info as it
comes in. We have additional distribution looming on all the family titles and so I"m happy
about that. We will just have to see what the week presents.
DJ
April 30th, 2006
It was a long week with ups and downs and this weekend was nice and relaxing. I've been
writing along on that WW1 script "Ace" and I would say I'm almost ½ way down. What a joy
researching and getting into a piece of history like WW1. I'm sipping coffee and writing this
because Pepper was on me about having one for Monday. I was in high hopes of having some
solid updates but many things are in the works!
If you are not a collector of DVD's then you will be happy that JUDGES comes to rental on
Tuesday the 2nd to most Hollywood Videos and Movie Gallery's. I will be out target shooting
archery on Tuesday so that will be cool.
I got to hang out with an old high school buddy who just moved back from Florida after helping
Ma Perry with a few things at her house like putting screens in her doors versus the storm doors.
Went to a cook out last night and today is our first outdoor soccer game with the Men's League.
I'm excited because it is always a good smash mouth game that allows me to focus only on the
game rather then any work B.S..
I should have additional distribution news this week on several of our movies. I think with the
success of a few of the new releases that a lot of interest is getting generated for the earlier films.
I had a good talk with a UK director on another larger budget horror/thriller shooting next year.
I have given my interest in his project and I might sign onto a film in June along with one final
re-shoot on "The 8th PLAGUE". I saw the rough cut this week on DVD and I have to say it is
powerful! I watched others cringe, squeal and hide their eyes as the movie rolled. They want to
make it even stronger and I need a new lawn shed so I'll be there with axe in hand! Anthem
Pictures are talking with Two for Flinching and we'll see if they end up distributing. G.P.S. is
also getting close to being complete. I bet we do a fall release there as well unless they want to
do a festival run with it.
SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN trailer is up and we will have a DVD launch in Boston. I guess
they were playing radio spots all weekend. Katie just went up on leading ladies and we still have
several beauties to go so keep watching! We are also launching an online entertainment
magazine in May with Big Cat Entertainment Group. I think the first issue will be with Stevie
Wonder and Charlie Watts if I'm not mistaken. Jamie Foxx is on deck and I will also be
featured in an issue so keep an eye for that site announcement.
We are getting ready to rip into editing on the ON LOCATION DVD and we are in talks with a
world-wide TV sales network for the series. Keep an eye on the www.supermodelshowdown.com
site because it will be growing by leaps and bounds.
We are developing on our feature film projects and I will bring news on them very soon.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the week ahead will be productive for everyone!
DJ
May 6th, 2006
Okay a quick weekend update from Fort Perry. It was a week of work and slow progress but
progress. We had the premiere of the JUDGES DVD in Hollywood Video and Movie Gallery
and so people are getting to check it out. AN ORDINARY KILLER in March, JUDGES in April
and MIRACLE AT SAGE CREEK in May. June will be the ON LOCATION DVD for
SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN. I will attend a launch release deal in Boston for a few days. I
also have to do the last few pick up days on THE 8TH PLAGUE.
From there it might be post on the SUPERMODEL TV show and pre-production on one maybe
two CDI projects for late summer/fall. One of the projects is WILD MICHIGAN. We had good
news on Friday and we'll follow up to try and get all that set up for October.
THE NEST, an award winning Korean war film that I produced and acted in will be for sale on
Indieflix soon. It stars Terry Jernigan who JUST GOT MARRIED! Yes you heard me right!
Congrats to my partner in crime and may the future hold much happiness. Oh! THE NEST! It
is what Kevin and I used to launch WICKED SPRING and actually 4 of us in THE NEST later
starred in WICKED SPRING with Curtis Hall and Aaron Jackson added to the cast.
Still close to more announcement but can't quite make them until they are solid. It all pertains
to distribution, development and such.
More soon!

I'm sitting here watching David Blain try to hold his breath for 9 minutes. I've seen his magic
before and love it. I was a magic fan as a child loved reading on people like Houdini. I've also
been watching the western series "Into The West" and highly recommend it. Irene Bedard, Wes
Studi and I talked about it while filming "Miracle at Sage Creek". I think it is a great story and
tragic for the American Indians. It was also tragic for many pioneers settling the west.
We are still waiting to hear back on many deals that are in the works.
ANNONCEMENT: THE NEST is now for sale on DVD!
http://www.indieflix.com/FilmDetail.aspx?tid=3996
THE NEST
This 26 minute korean war film was an award winning short with action that would come to
define Kevin R. Hershberger's directing style. The film proved to be a breakthrough for
Lionheart Filmwork's partners Kevin R. Hershbeger, myself and then partner Edward Schaefer.
This film was a stepping stone on the way to financing their Epic Civil War movie "WICKED
SPRING". (Ardustry/Illuminations Home Video) Four of the main characters in "THE NEST"
played by Jernigan, Lacy, Merrick and myself can be found later starring in "WICKED
SPRING". The documentary "The Making of an Independent Epic, Wicked Spring" can be
found on IndieFlix that bridges the two films. What a journey that started with some crazy
filmmakers filming in PA until the snow storm closed in!
I'm ready to dig into another week of writing on "ACE" and may go to an aviation museum in
Kalamazoo sometime in the near future. I met with the author and his son last week and we
discussed a few plot points.
This week I start to dig into editing on the ON LOCATION DVD for "Supermodel Showdown".
We also are in talks with a company to rep the series world-wide.
WHOLE LOTTA SELLING! I talked with the CEO at Anthem Pictures our distributor for
JUDGES and AN ORDINARY KILLER and he said he got the 1st reports on JUDGES from
Hollywood Video and that the numbers were great! I also got a call from a music promoter
friend in Grand Rapids who said that JUDGES was a craze and that WHOLE LOTTA KILLING
was the phrase. They were talking to me about midnight movie showings of it and so I will talk
with Stephen Walker about that. I think that might be fun.
I have one day of re-shooting on THE 8th PLAGUE in June so I get to go and film on two
scenes and see all my PLAGUE friends! I also had a director in Chicago call me about a movie
they want to do next year in NYC. They are shooting a project in June in Chicago but it is a
smaller budget and the days are just not working out.
We are still fighting to pull all the elements together on "WILD MICHIGAN" and I so want to
dig into that story. We will see how the week unfolds.

May 13th, 2006
It is a nice Sat morning despite the cold rain outside. I'm inside Fort Perry with French Roast
Coffee so rain away! My plants are growing very well including a few Pepper plants and such.
I'm not a good grower but I like to dabble. Saw some old high school buddies yesterday and so
that was cool. Tonight I might go to a get together and watch the complete Season 5 "Trailer
Park Boys" DVD. If you don't know about this Canadian show then you are really missing some
funny stuff.
I did some good writing on the WW1 Screenplay this past week and so that is moving right
along. Also editing has started on the ON LOCATION DVD for SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN.
The Boston premiere should be great on the 9th, 10th of June. The previous week I will be in VA
shooting one last day on "The 8th Plague". It will be great to see that whole group again.
Actually that will be a reunion with two great groups of people. I haven't been to Boston since I
was a young child so this will be a fun return.
I was excited about the Hollywood numbers on "Judges" with rented 5100+ times in 4 days. It
will reach a lot of people and now international sales are beginning. I'm told that Italy is first up
and we also have television. I just want the stories to get out there. Some will like them and
some will not but that is the way of all movies.
I got an email from a friend in LA and she talked about those darn IMDB message boards
again. I don't really watch them so I just laughed and told her that it is all just part of the fun.
Just like in big time wrasslin'... yes I said wrasslin' everyone needs a heel. (Bad Guy) Most of
those people are just blimps on an internet PR screen and it all helps improve ratings, ranking
and sales with every comment good or bad so let it flow. People in life who are not happy with
their own situation will look to knock people down when they step up. Not just in entertainment
but anywhere. Be the person in the office to go to the boss with a new idea (brown noser) Be the
person in school to do the extra credit. (teachers pet) Be the person who steps up in businesss
with a new idea. (Millionaire) Certain people seek identity by going against the norm but in
secret they flow with it. Hidden pleasures... "I Hate REALITY SHOWS!" They are the ones in
secret watching Bobbie Brown & Whitney camping on TV. So to my fans I say don't sweat these
people. They are just playing their part in the game and as the old saying goes... "Don't hate the
player, hate the game!" WORD!
Thursday night was the "Miracle at Sage Creek" premiere in LA and I should have rolled out for
that but I have this project to edit. They had a great guest list and I will talk with Thadd later
this weekend and get the skinny. I talked with Franqui and Eric, the directors of "The 8th
Plague" and "G.P.S." and I'm excited because we have all this hype for the movies currently out
and we still have two great movies to release. WORD again.
That word WORD is stuck in my head.
That is all for now.

The morning drill... coffee (Check), email (Check) and now update (Check)
It was a slow progressing three weeks but now things are kicking into gear. I'm in editing on the
ON LOCATION SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN DVD. The site is VERY active now with
individual clips of the girls, trailers, premiere info for the showing in Boston and much more.
We are also in negotiations now with the TV series and they feel that it has strong world-wide
legs so get ready world. We are also getting the music around and this show has spawned some
other possible avenues for production with Big Cat Entertainment. Most of it ties into music as
well as the visual arts. So www.supermodelshowdown.com ENJOY!
I'm into the 60's on my writing of "ACE" and I'm so very happy thus far with how the story and
characters are unfolding. I've been working on developing a project in Dean Teaster's (Our
COO) home town of Maggie Valley, N.C. We also continue to work with the banks on "Wild
Michigan" and we are close to closing that deal up but not quite there. We are still on schedule
though for Oct./Nov. and so we will keep on pushing. The script is going to a few big names and
we will see if they hop on board.
My days are set to go to Vienna, Virginia and do my last pick up day of filming on "The 8th
Plague". We have some good news on that movie but I cannot release anything as of yet. I'll just
say HALLOWEEN.
I'm excited to get "Miracle at Sage Creek" out to market on the 30th of May here. "An Ordinary
Killer" and "Judges" are now at the overseas film market in France. Brain Damage Films is also
over there with a few of the early horror titles. I should have a good announcement on "Figure
in the Forest" by early next week.
Sales on "The Nest" at www.indieflix.com are going good. That is also creating interest in the
other films we have up there. "From Venus" is the hot seller leading the pack so far. CHEESE
wins the day! I would still like to read some email posted on this site about what people think of
some of the films. I'm told that a group of people are buying the BUDDY COLT shirts so maybe
we will have some good pictures to post soon.
That is about it for the week so far. Dave Borowicz is in town from Hollywood so we will be
getting together here soon.
That's all folks!

I'm sippin' the dark java and sending out a few bids and such. David B is in from L.A. and
crashed out on the sofa. He came in late last night and we hung with Curtis Hall for last call.
Today I will do my routine but maybe we will go visit CDI V.P. Jeff Kennedy and his wife
Juanita. We have sunshine and that is awesome. We had a lot of rain for about a week.
I was at our editors yesterday and looking at our footage from "Supermodel Showdown: On
Location DVD" and it was awesome! The waterfalls and that beach that provide a breathtaking
backdrop for those wonderful ladies as they do their thing for you audience members out there.
I have my ticket for the Boston launch on the 9th and 10th. Lots of P.R. stuff that we have to
do once there. A well known band is uniting to play at the premiere I'm told and my only hint is
("Angel is the Centerfold") Is your blood running cold? www.supermodelshowdown.com Are
you a model? Do you want to be considered for the next season in Africa?
I have my ticket to Virginia squared away so I will go do my last few days on "The 8th
PLAGUE". A new site will be launching there soon at www.the8thplague.com . The film is
together as a rough cut and it is an ultra GORY movie! And we might have it out to all of you
by Halloween time... can I get an Amen?
We have a slew of films over at the Canne Film Market and so I await good news on that front.
"JUDGES" and "AN ORDINARY KILLER" have been selling/renting like crazy so I thank all of
you for your support. Trailers still can be seen at Anthem Pictures. "MIRACLE at SAGE
CREEK" will ride on into stores on May 30th, 2006 so go get you some cowboy action that isn't
Brokeback. See trailer at American World Pictures.
I guess that is all for now. I hope you had a chance to check out the CHAT I did with Pepper to
try an answer some fans questions. I have some artwork done by a fan of "WICKED SPRING"
that will be going up here soon! I also have a few more of the leading ladies coming this way
with their materials and so keep looking there. We have the talented and beautiful Katie up
there right now.
I would love to see everyone's comments on the films at www.imdb.com just sign in Vote and
leave a comment. Pepper would be happy to post any reviews and such as well. Thank you to
everyone and let us just keep on trucking!

A quick update! I got home late from meetings in N.C. over a movie project and now I'm
sipping coffee and catching up on emails. Today is the day "MIRACLE at SAGE CREEK"
comes out and so that is exciting! I will be going to watch the 1st rough cut of the 60 minute
"On Location DVD" for SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN, Costa Rica. It was my 1st directorial
debut and I'm happy to be getting this out there. We do have interest from a major sales group
to help get the series out World-Wide so I hope to have more info on that soon.
I leave for VA on Thursday to shoot one day and do some promotional stuff for "The 8th
PLAGUE" which is targeting an Oct. 06 release. Sorry this is a short and sweet update and more
will follow.
Busy day!
