END OF THE YEAR WRAP UP!
December 23rd, 2005
This is me with Natalie Nicole in Florida shorthly
before going to do the "Supermodel Showdown" TV
show in Costa Rica. I have to say that I have been
blessed with many great things this year. I have
traveled to new places and I've met many new people.
I thank Talmarc, JAFTICA, Right Way, Big Cat and
Two for Flinching Productions for the wonderful
opportunities this year. I cherish all my new friends
I've met in Arizona, Cornwall, Canada, Seattle,
Northern VA, Hollywood and the Costa Rica jungle.
I slept in a hammock overnight that overlooked the
Costa Rican jungle as it rained gently outside. I will
always fondly remember the great people we partied
and ate with in the small town bar in Benson AZ
called the SHOOTOUT. (I even sang KidRock...
ahhh)

What a start to a new day! The tricks and the treats are behind us and now we push on
into the late part of the year. I'm sipping the old coffee here and getting ready to get the
word out. After MUCH shopping of the movies, "FROM VENUS", "HEAVEN'S
NEIGHBORS", AND "FIGURE in the FOREST" we finally have them for sale on DVD.
You all can add three more movies to your collection. "FROM VENUS" will allow you to
hang onto the last of the Halloween scares from a campy point of view and "FIGURE in
the FOREST" will move you with the beautiful colors and touching story. For some
strong drama by my amigo Aaron Jackson coupled with some good laughs, check out
"HEAVEN'S NEIGHBORS".
www.indieflix.com (GO BUY NOW!)
I'm still fighting to get the right aspect ratio for these darn pictures. I'm doing the same
thing with the Hollywood Players Directory. I'm trying to get Jeff and Juanita Kennedy
to help out with that. Next up will be working on the first edits of "Supermodel
Showdown". www.supermodelshowdown.com
Then I will plan to go do my days pick up for "The 8th PLAGUE" (check the trailer out if
you haven't) www.the8thplague.com
Speaking of this fine film... the beautiful and talented Hollis Zemany is the NEW featured
LEADING LADY!
"KNIGHT CHILLS" and "IN the WOODS" just sold to Thailand. The AFM (American
Film Market) starts this week and we will have a few movies for sale there. Several of
our films have been requested and by years end they should all be wrapped up and
heading to you all!
Thank you to all of you calling in on JUDGES. Don't stop! I think it is going to go
through! They have been getting flooded with calls... so fingers crossed.
More later! Time for all of you to start Christmas shopping and we have a few movies
for you. I would love to hear back from some fan mail on what films you liked and why.
Best, DJ

I'm throwing some coffee down and decided to write a quick update to get the brain
moving. Today I'm a guest speaker at a Creative Forum at Michigan State University for
the college of arts and Letters. I will be speaking on the career path of motion picture as
an actor, writer and producer. It should be fun to go back to the ole' MSU.
Saw on www.indieflix.com that sales are doing okay. "HEAVEN'S NEIGHBORS" is the
#4 best seller this week and "FIGURE in the FOREST" is #5. "FROM VENUS" hasn't
fully found its audience yet but maybe it will.
Good deals are underway on "AN ORDINARY KILLER" which includes something with
Court TV! We are also negotiating on "The PATCHWORK GIRL of OZ" for
distribution in a few countries. "GPS" had a screening at the American Film Market last
night and will again on the 8th. I hope it gets into Sundance so I can go experience all
that! "JUDGES" is now with the VP of buying for Regal Theaters and a few different
distributors are very interested in it. The ditto goes for "The 8th PALGUE" after the
trailer premiere... CREEPY!
I'm waiting to find out pick up days on "PLAGUE" and also getting ready to start editing
on "SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN" which will be a blast! I met with Dennis Therrian
my movie composer who will be doing the music for the trailers.
Talked with Producer Ray over "CROSSING the KING'S HIGHWAY" and that might
shoot before the years end. That would be a fun way to ride the year out.
Also be sure to see the beautiful and talented Hollis Zemany from "The 8th PLAGUE"
under Leading Ladies! Next up is my "SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN" host Nadia
Dawn also featured in KING MAGAZINE this month.
More later,
DJ
Where to start? I'm feeling good that three of our films are now for sale and audiences
can see these movies. I felt good that "FIGURE in the FOREST" hit the #1 spot for the
day at the site and for the first time all three films were in the top ten. Like I've told a
few people, "You'll spend under a $1,000 in a lifetime even if you bought the entire DJ
Perry collection." So yet again I put on the barker hat and pitch the 3 films... STEP
RIGHT UP AND GET YOUR MOVIES! www.indieflix.com. Please do buy them and
then write in here to fan mail and say which movies were your favorite. I think this is a
wonderful opportunity to get these films seen!
I had a great time speaking at Michigan State University. They had the most students
signed up for that speaking engagement to date. Many of them knew who I was when I
got there. I even had to sign programs at the end which was quite flattering. I wish I
had better handwriting: I saw it all as a sign that MSU is really ready for a film program.
The East Lansing Film Festival has been a great stimulus in cultivating that interest.
I've been working it hard and we now have an offer before us on "AN ORDINARY
KILLER"! That will be exciting for many out there who have been waiting for the films
release. They are still trying to determine to go theatrical or not. The deal is good and
we will be signed by weeks end. They are telling me that if we go TV and home video
instead of theatrical then we will have a February 2006 release. We might have a few
more surprise announcements here soon!
"JUDGES" is gathering some interest and for those helping to call into Regal Theaters.
Please keep calling in! It is looking good for us and I think a deal is looming here as well.
I got to see and extended six minutes of footage of "The 8th PLAGUE"and WOW it is
really coming along great! Also talked with Hallie, the producer and actress (see Leading
Ladies) on G.P.S. and they had great meetings at the American Film Market in
California. The screening they had last night in a 235 seat theater only had 5 open seats!
That is great stuff! I think they are following up on deals and they will evaluate but until
we hear back from SUNDANCE they will not sign anything.
Also all you out there would be smart to check out Nadia Dawn my host on "Supermodel
Showdown"! She is on the LEADING LADIES page now! I have the tapes being shipped
out here and we will start to cut the footage next week. I was also asked to look at
another script (A thriller) to play a role in Early Spring 2006.
Well, that is quite a bit of update and I'm off to read the contract. I also have to read the
1st draft of the WILD MICHIGAN novel by Dee Freeman based on the screenplay by
Thadd Turner and me.
DJ
THE DEAL IS DONE! I know that this is the update that Pepper has been waiting for.
As of this past Friday we made the long awaited deal on our "based on a true story"
crime drama "AN ORDINARY KILLER". The distributor is now evaluating to see if they
want to release it in the theaters. They are set up to do so but going directly to TV/home
video immediately has some financial advantages as well. If it does go TV/home video
direct then it will be released on February 7th, 2006. That date is set unless it does go to
the theaters which will push around the timeline. The other factor is that they are
interested in the idea of creating a franchise around the Lynn Kendall character. I would
once again love to play Lynn Kendall and track some lunatic. I think audiences will love
seeing ole Terence Knox, Dan Haggerty, Dennis Haskins and Charles Matthau in action
along with my detective amigos Terry Jernigan and Chris Nendick and a wonderful cast
of supporting actors all captured by our excellent crew. Kudos to everyone involved!
I'm starting to focus on "JUDGES" and "The PATCHWORK GIRL of OZ" for
distribution. I saw 6 minutes of "The 8th PLAGUE" footage and I have to say... spooky.
I feel like I said that before but every time I see it I do think... SPOOOOoooOOOOKY!
Pepper is making some update to the site and THE STORE is developing a page to help
all of you find out where you can buy the movies.
More later!
DJ
I'm sitting here at Fort Perry sippin the java and giving a little update to those out there
who are interested. I met up last night with actress Ann Marie Bourdon and her sister
Janette at a local Irish bar. We all sat by a fire and had a Guinness beer. Ann was a
priestess in "FROM VENUS" and then had a supporting role as Aaron Jackson's sister in
"HEAVEN'S NEIGHBORS". She has been traveling all over the world. I mean I travel
but this girl has been to Thailand, Italy... and she is off again next week.
Here it is DAMN cold already! We had our 1st snow the other day and I'm already
thinking about warmth! We have been getting materials out to California for "AN
ORDINARY KILLER" and I'm still working deals on "JUDGES" and "The
PATCHWORK GIRL of OZ". Getting some good feedback from buyers on
www.indieflix.com so I'm happy about that.
I'm looking at a few movie options for early 2006. I just got the new script for
"SwapMeet" and it is funny! Should have new updates on that soon! Looking to hear
back on my dates to return to Virginia and shoot a few additional pick up days on "The
8th PLAGUE" so that should be fun.
More soon!
DJ
Sipping coffee and enjoying the snowy day outside. It is beautiful but has a bitter bite. I
guess that is what comes with the whole Michigan experience. Yesterday I had Chinese
with my bro, Dad and his wife because today we will be with my Mom at cousins in
Detroit. I'm still waiting on some final info on "AN ORDINARY KILLER" and some
feedback on "JUDGES". Next week should answer many questions including the
Sundance question in regards to the movie "GPS". Sales stayed strong on our films and
we got a few write up in the newspapers. I'm working on aligning with a few
organizations that could benefit from the film's messages. I talked last night with a few
politicians who want to discuss our movie production more in depth. Perhaps something
good will come from that. Joe Murphy has been in L.A. taking meetings that could help
our sale of the "SUPERMODEL SHOWDOWN" and I'm anxious to get all taht together.
The footage has to be segmented up first but people should start to see online clips. There
is a clip from the show on www.bigcatentertainmentgroup.com of Natalie Nicole (one of
the girls) and a butterfly that really shows you the paradise we were in. An entire new
website for "The 8th PLAGUE" is underway and I may even have a new CDI site going
up for 2006. I have to do my new 2006 actors reel as well.
Well HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you out there! Be safe!
DJ
After a long wait... it COMES! The trailer can be seen at
www.anthemdvd.com/
The movie should hit TV in January, 2006 and I'll get you
the specifics of what networks soon! The COURT TV
promo will be in January, 2006 as well. The release date for
the DVD is February 7th, 2006. You will see this powerful
emothional tale unfold over a span of 28 years.
Sales have continued to click away at www.indieflix.com
with "FROM VENUS" leading sales on several days as it
slowly finds the market that appreciates the campy fun.
Talking with a few National organizations over "HEAVEN'S
NEIGHBORS" and "FIGURE in the FOREST" and how we
might tie in with them.
"JUDGES" has an offer on the table for distribution and we
are still waiting to see what happens with the theatrical run
opportunity. I think I go back to VA to shoot my pick up
days on "The 8th PLAGUE" around December 5th
timeframe.
I've been reading a few scripts to fill the Winter/Spring
timeframe before "The HARD RIDE" and "WILD
MICHIGAN". Still talking about finalizing on "SWAP
MEET" and found a wonderful new script/filmmaker and we
are talking terms. It would be a great role that would have me out of the dust and dirt
and into a Rolls Roycee and a suit. More on this if I can put the deal together. The script
is a great thriller!
"The PATCHWORK GIRL of OZ" is also being considered by a few companies and I'm
trying to get "NO RETREAT" ready for market on the Lionheart Filmworks front. We
will also know if "GPS" made it into Sundance Film Festival. They get over three
thousand entries so... chance are against us but maybe they will take to it??? That would
be freat fun!
Thanksgiving was good and I'm going to focus on finishing up my shopping here soon.
Happy Holidays!
DJ
It is another chilly day in Michigan and I'm at the Fort Perry sipping the java and trying
to make the deals. I was suppose to make it over to Jeff Kennedy's to do a camera test
and also review a few things. I'm slightly behind this morning and Jeff only had until
noon so that will have to wait. I'm almost done with the Christmas shopping in only a
mere 2-3 trips! The New Year is fast approaching and I have to get my days locked in for
my pick up shoot in VA for "The 8th PLAGUE".
Speaking of the "PLAGUE" I got an email from the producers saying they watched a
rough cut and it was full of suspense, action, scares and ah... blood! I will start to help
Eric Colley review deal offers on "GPS" and unfortunately it did not get into SUNDANCE
film festival. No short cut for you! It is his first feature and from what I saw it was
pretty darn cool. It will find a good home!
Last night I reviewed deal points with Stephen Walker on "JUDGES" and it looks like we
will be signing a deal today or tomorrow perhaps. We will have a release date very soon
for all of you out there. Walker met with Pat Robertson who runs the Regent College that
Walker went to. "JUDGES" does have the undertones from the Book of Judges in the
bible. So we have really 3-4 major markets: The Comic Book, The Christian, The
Western and The Action film. Regal also liked the film and sent it to the head honchos
out west. I would love to see it in a few theaters. They have a big marketing campaign in
mind for "JUDGES" and I'm interested to see it unfold!
I'm getting ready to head over with our editor and do some tape reviewing on "The
Supermodel Showdown". We have had some great little developments there and once I
can share them with folks I will. I will start to add a few more of the girls onto the
Leading Ladies page here soon. Several of the girls are making good headway in other tv
shows and print ads.
I'm still looking at my 2006 calendar and trying to plan everything out. It looks like it
should be a good year. Everyone be safe and Happy Holiday!
Best,
DJ
I wanted to give you a little update. "JUDGES" is now on the Anthem Pictures site. It
has some great new artwork. I will get Pepper a poster to put here soon. They have a
release date of April 4th but that will change if the Regal theater release comes through.
It will also be going to TV and they are thinking Showtime. Also they plan to print and
release the comics and posters like the SIN CITY ones that show each character. Feel free
to write to Anthem Pictures and give your support. I think "JUDGES" will make a great
property to do merchandising with. Stephen Walker, the director, also had a meeting with
Pat Robertson about engaging the Christian market. I went to a showing like that of the
1st Narnia movie. I thought it was good but not as good as LOTR or even the Harry
Potter movies. So now I'm reading a few scripts and looking at projects for January -
March. Looks like April will be the start of "The HARD RIDE" and I'm so excited to
bring my version of Jack McCall. I'm still trying to get my day or days out of Cecil on
"SWAP MEET" and I NOW have my pick up days on "The 8th PLAGUE" set. I will be
in Virginia for New Years Eve and I think my buddy Terry Jernigan will be there. I'm
anxious to meet his girlfriend Ava. The last little information drop is that "AN
ORDINARY KILLER" and "JUDGES" will be going into sequel development. Stephen
Walker will be going over ideas and Tony Hornus is working on the story treatment for
"An Organized Offender" that will follow Lynn Kendal again on the hunt of a twisted and
demented minded killer.
I think I have my Christmas shopping about done as well!
DJ
Last night we had a little get together with a few of the folks from CDI. We had a few
drinks and some nice food and reflected upon the year we had and the even better year
that lies ahead. We showed a few clips from "Movie Magic in Mescal" which was the
making of "MIRACLE at SAGE CREEK". The editor, Steve Young, was there as well
as Kovac, one of our cameramen. The picture was picked up by Universal Pictures and
will be heading to market soon. It might also do a broadcast run with Hallmark. I'll let
you know more soon. Universal Pictures is also handling "The HARD RIDE" and I just
printed a hard copy of the most current script. I will start to go over those lines.
I have to leave at 6am on the 26th of December to go to Vienna, VA and do some
additional shooting on a fight scene from "The 8th PLAGUE". I will return on January
2nd, 2006 and from there I'm trying to get my date(s) on the comedy "Swap Meet". I'm
also waiting on 2 other projects that are up in the air. We are getting closer to putting
things together on "WILD MICHIGAN" but it is still not 100% together. Lionsgate has
the script and we'll see what they have to say about it this week. We should also have a
final answer from Regal Theaters with "JUDGES" but... it looks good. Having the
other dates in place lit a fire under them. They did get flooded with calls from all over
the U.S. so thank you so much for that!
We have pushed the release date on "AN ORDINARY KILLER" from February 7th,
2006 to February 28th, 2006 to work with a Blockbuster schedule. A few week push
won't matter and it will give them more time to work the broadcast deal. We are trying
to lock down the Court TV dates as well.
Sales are staying steady for our three films on www.indieflix.com so get those final
Christmas gifts of "FROM VENUS", "HEAVEN'S NEIGHBORS" AND "FIGURE in
the FOREST". Also "WICKED SPRING" is at a sell through price of $9.95 at many
outlets. I see that Pepper is adding a bit of holiday cheer to the fan site! I hope
everyone is getting a chance to see family and friends over the holidays. Be safe and
drink some spiked eggnog on me!
DJ

The wild actor's condo in VA and our playing Zombie Toss as well as our shower that was
always stained blood red! Sword fighting with Tim Abell up in the Hollywood Hills and
sleeping in Howard Hughes cabin in Lone Pine. The many, many awesome gatherings we
had at "Off Track" director Mark Owen's house. Those days enhancing my overall love
of the Canadian people as a whole! Yes!!! Even Nadia Dawn (My host on Supermodel
Showdown) Blessings heaped upon blessings!
I'm very excited about 2006 as there are many projects that are already underway and
even more still developing. I'm excited for audiences to see some of the projects we
worked on this year. Through www.indieflix.com we saw three of the early CDI films
brought to market. This morning I got a great email message from a fan about
"HEAVEN'S NEIGHBORS" and how much she really loved it! Getting emails, letters,
etc... from people you have never met that you affected in a good positive way via story
telling is a feeling like no other. "FIGURE in the FOREST" and "FROM VENUS" are
also selling along and we are seeing our first return checks. YEAH! We signed a good
deal on "JUDGES" and "AN ORDINARY KILLER" that will have them coming out this
spring! See www.anthemdvd.com to watch trailers. We also made a deal for sequels to
these two films which will be great fun. We'll see Lynn Kendall and Jack Creed aka
Buddy Colt go to the screen again to do their thing. "MIRACLE at SAGE CREEK" will
be coming out soon as well via Universal Pictures and they are also distributing "The
HARD RIDE" which shoots in April. I'll be in cowboy mode for that picture as well as
"WILD MICHIGAN" if we can tighten up the loose ends.
I have to be at the airport at 5am on December 26th to return to VA and shoot some pick
up shoots for "The 8th PLAGUE" and other then the I'm excited to see old friends. I'll be
there until January 2nd and I don't know what my email status will be so this could be it
until then. January, 2006 my start off goal is to help find a home for "GPS", "The
PATCHWORK GIRL of OZ", "NO RETREAT from DESTINY" and "The 8th PLAGUE"!!!!
Everyone have a safe and wonderful holiday. I thank you all for your support and I'll see
you all in 2006 in the MOVIES! Lastly, thank you Pepper at www.djperryfanclub.com for
her dedication to keeping all my projects straight and giving me a forum to journal my
thoughts! Feel free to sign the guest book and say hello.
Happy Hollidays!
DJ Perry
